East Coast Asian American Student Union

The East Coast Asian American Student Union is a national, nonprofit organization founded in 1977. The organization’s mission is to inspire, educate and empower anyone who is interested in Asian American and Pacific Islander issues, and ECAASU remains the oldest and largest network for Asian American and Pacific Islander professionals, students and allies.

Through ECAASU, I have had the privilege to attend the annual national conference and continue to grow as a leader and advocate within the Asian American and Pacific Islander community. Currently, I am serving as one of the Special Events Coordinators on the national board, where I am learning to professionally coordinate large-scale events and work alongside a team of dedicated professionals and students. Here are some of my responsibilities listed below:

  • Collaborate with national board members to plan annual conference logistics
  • Work with development team to organize and coordinate smaller community engagement events
  • Assist in fundraising and promotional efforts
  • Research and confirm vendors and secure performers, speakers and caterers as necessary
  • Oversee logistics prior, during and after all events
  • Develop timelines and budgets to send to Board of Directors three months prior to event
  • Visit venues and layout event accordingly
  • Report on post-event success
